I guess we all have been though it, one way or the other. A crash diet is when someone restricts themselves of all nourishment with the exception of water for more than 12 hours of time. The result they´re after is of course to have the body burn fat for energy with the goal of losing a significant amount of weight in a short time.
It is important to note that crash dieting is not the same as flexible intermittent fasting, where people fast for two days a week and calories are cycled. It is safe to say that the weight lost in a crash diet usually returns when normal eating resumes again.
